Heartland competed at the SNC Track Meet in Sutton on Saturday.

Heartland Girls and Boys Basketball teams will host their opening round of Southern Nebraska Conference action on Monday, January 29. The girls will play Fillmore-Central at 5:30 p.m., and the boys will play Fairbury at 7 p.m.

“We had a great first week of practice and made huge gains in skill development and further establishing our identity as a team,” said head coach Taylor Siebert.

The idea of finding a way for his young sons to play football in youth league blew up into something Greg Boehr never could have imagined. Today, it's called the Farmers Valley Youth Football League. It consists of an 11-man division with eleven teams and an 8-man Division with 18 teams participating.

HASTINGS – Three area athletes capped their prep football careers last week as they suited up for the East team at the Sertoma Eight-Man All-Star game at Hastings College. Cross County's Trevor Bolton saw reps as the starting center, while Heartland had two representatives at the game in offensive lineman Merrick Maltsberger and Trev Peters in the secondary.

Mia Hiebner had another great round despite hot and windy conditions, ensuring her ticket to compete at the Class C-1 State Golf Meet next week.
