The Heartland Huskie football team not only ended its regular season at home on Friday night but its last night as the Huskies. The sports cooperative for the Heartland Huskies and the Hampton Hawks will go into effect after each team finished out this season. Unfortunately, it was a loss for the Huskies losing 30-56 against the Mead Raiders. But it was not without some exciting action for the team with Nevada Gloystein scoring 4 out of the 5 TDs for Heartland. The Huskies finished the game with 212 rushing yards and 39 passing. With this loss the Huskies ended its season with a 1-7 record.
“Overall, I am pleased with the season. We played a very difficult schedule where 6 of the 8 opponents are playoff teams. We saw a lot of growth throughout the season, especially from our sophomores and juniors. We played a very good Mead team and were able to compete with them all the way until the end. I am very proud of how the boys responded to adversity throughout the season,” said Coach Ben Lindsay.
