Heartland FFA Release
Labor Day weekend and FFA weekend at the Nebraska State Fair go hand in hand. This year was no exception. Members from across the state braved the heat to show their livestock and static exhibits. Heartland members attended the fair on Friday, September 4th, to help set up the static exhibit area located in the 4H/FFA Fieldhouse. On Saturday, static exhibits were judged. Sunday, the livestock barns hosted the showmanship and breeding shows. Monday brought the close of the fair, market shows, and cleanup of the static exhibits. Heartland members have volunteered their time to set up and clean up the FFA static exhibits at the fair, for the last 15 years. Here, Willow is helping clean up the ears of corn display. Volunteers are needed in many aspects of the fair. David Hiebner volunteered his time to help with the crop judging this year.
David Hiebner received Grand Champion in Ag Mechanics Production for his mineral feeder, which he will use for his SAE project, and Reserve Champion for his supplement bunk, which he will use for his cattle operation.
Jasper Kinsey showed a goat in showmanship and market goats. He received 2nd in his class for the market show. Maddie Janzen received a purple ribbon in Senior FFA Beef Showmanship.
Emma Ott spent the weekend showing pigs. She won the FFA Overall Breeding Gilt Division with her dark colored cross gilt. Kinsley Friesen received a Fair Board’s Choice ribbon for her metal-forged flower she created last year.
