I’ve been waiting all summer for some Hummers to spot my feeder on the north side of the house. It finally happened this week when swarms of Ruby-throated hummingbirds showed up, flitting around my once-lonely feeder. They are an iridescent green and weigh in at only 2-3 grams. They don’t really have a ruby throat, but the black throat patch, only on the males, reflects ruby red in the sunshine.
