A student brought a handgun to York Middle School on Thursday, police say.
According to a press release from the York Police Department, officers were notified that a student may have a weapon on school property.
The school resource officer contacted the student and found multiple prohibited items, including a handgun.
The student was taken into custody and brought to the York Police Department to be interviewed.
Investigators also conducted interviews and searches at the middle school, and talked with the student’s family, who have been cooperative, police said.
York Police Chief Edward Tjaden said they do not believe there is any ongoing threat or a current danger to students, staff or the community.
