The Heartland gym was decked out for its annual Pink Out night in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Bearcats wore hot pink warm-up T-shirts and sported pale pink armbands while playing in the triangular. The Centennial and Fillmore Central teams each wore hot pink jerseys for the event. Henderson Health Care held a short program in between matches to recognize HHC’s mammogram technologists and breast cancer survivor Melissa Friesen.

The H&H Bearcats first battled the Panthers at 5 p.m. and lost 0-2 (25-10, 25-23). In their first set, the Bearcats struggled offensively, but they came back strong in the second set, tying it at 23-23 before losing the next two rallies – HeartlandBeat photos

They next faced the Broncos at 7 p.m. and played some solid offense and defense to win 2-1 (25-23, 10-25, 25-17). The Bearcats came out with fire and won the first back-and-forth set. The second set was a different story: the Bearcats fell behind 0-7 before scoring a point. They regrouped, and the third set was a thriller, with the Bearcats never losing the lead thanks to strong serving, blocking, and kills.

In the other match at 6 p.m., the Centennial Broncos beat Fillmore Central 2-1 (12-25, 25-20, 25-23).

The H&H youth volleyball teams attended Pink Out Night to cheer on the Bearcats!
