Participants at the “From Russia to America” Kids Camp reenact an ocean journey and arrival to America at the Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park.

Come out to the park for this fun and unique event and learn firsthand the immigrant experience. The Russia-to-America Camp is a fun afternoon that reenacts the immigrants’ long journey from Russia to the Immigrant House near Henderson. Learn what it was like in 1874 to leave Russia, make an ocean voyage, and a cross-country train ride before arriving in Henderson.
Join us for the journey and hear the captivating true stories of Henderson’s 1874 immigrants and their voyage to America. This event is a unique learning experience for each age group. Dressing up in period clothing is a fun option for those who wish to immerse themselves in the historical setting.
It will be held on Tuesday, June 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. for ages 5 through 8th grade. Reserve your spot by either calling Heritage Park at 402-723-5694 and leaving a message, calling Suzanne at 402-694-8669, or emailing csratz@mainstaycomm.
The camp will be held at Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park, located just north of Henderson on the west side of the spur. Henderson Heritage & Tourism sponsors the camp. The $15 fee for the event is payable on-site.
