Heartland Boys Golf Ready for Districts

2022 Heartland Huskies Boys Golf Team

The Heartland Huskies boys golf team placed 1st as a team at the Thayer Central Invite with a score of 362, our three medalists are: Reeve Oswald (4th) with an 85, Mason Hiebner (8th) with an 89, and Jacob Regier (10th) with a 91. Creighton Friesen ended with a 97 and Alex Goertzen with a 108.

The Heartland Huskies are coached by Micah Sundberg, Heartland will be at the C-4 District Tournament this Tuesday, May 17 at Indian Head Golf Course.

Creighton Friesen will kick off the Heartland Huskies with a Tee Time of 9:00 am, Jacob Regier to follow at 9:30 am, Alex Goertzen at 9:50 am, Reeve Oswald at 10:10 am, and Mason Hiebner at 10:20 am

The Huskies started their regular season off with a Triangular meet against Doniphan-Trumbull, Sutton. The results of that meet:

Coach Sundberg said this season has gone extremely well, “I am very optimistic and hopeful as we enter district week. We are continuing to improve and play our best golf.”

“It was great to see high interest in the sport this year and Hope that continues throughout the year, Andrew Franz and Ryan Hiebner have stepped up and have been able to make an impact on varsity.”

The Huskies are heading into districts this week excited and ready to play their best. “Our district is packed with a lot of great competition and each team has the potential to score well, our team has proved to be competitive which allows us to have a shot at scoring low at districts and making it to state” Sundberg said

The Huskies later competed at the Roy Horner Invitational (Friend) the results are:

Mason Hiebner, Senior at Heartland Community Schools is excited as he prepares for districts coming up, “The golf season went really well, with districts coming up we are going to be playing our best golf of the season.”

The Huskie boys have been very successful this year, placing first as a team at the Fillmore Central Invitational along with the Thayer Central Invitational and their talent doesn’t go unnoticed.

“The boys have put in a lot of time outside of practice and that has allowed them to be successful.”
