It’s not too late to sign up for the hands-on precision agriculture workshop planned for February 24th, but time is running out!  This hands-on workshop is designed to demonstrate methods for extracting more information from your Precision Ag Data.  The workshop will combine short lectures with Hands-on activities (laptops and data will be supplied) using AG Leader SMS Advanced software.

Session topics will demonstrate strategies to:

  1. Conduct multi-year yield data normalization analyses,
  2. Analyze yield monitor data versus as-applied split planter hybrid data,
  3. Analyze yield monitor data versus as-applied seeding rate data
  4. Quantify yield monitor data versus NRCS soil survey boundaries and soil electrical conductivity (EC) maps generated from Veris data,
  5. Develop prescription maps for various crop inputs under irrigated and dryland conditions,
  6. Develop and evaluate the performance of management plans for crop inputs

Registration Cost is $50.00 and include printed learning guides, jump drive and lunch.  Add $15 for an additional registrant from the same farm operation who will share a computer and add $20 for anyone requesting CCA CEUs. CCA CEUs are currently pending approval.

Economics of ARC vs PLC

So, how you coming figuring out the Farm Bill?  Have you updated your yields and looked at updating bases or not?  Lot of information out there.  I hope you’ve checked out our CropWatch pages http://cropwatch.unl.edu and our Farm Bill page http://agecon.unl.edu/farmbill.

Another resource I hope you’ll check out is the most recent issue of Cornhusker Economics prepared February 4th by Brad Lubben.  It’s available at: http://agecon.unl.edu/cornhuskereconomics.  He does a good job of explain the step landlords and producers should take related to the three farm program decisions your facing.  Those decisions are updating your program payment yields, your decision to update or reallocate your program bases by February 27th and the final decision to decide about electing ARC (Agricultural Risk Coverage) or PLC (Price Loss Coverage) program by March 31st.  I hope you will check it out!

YCDC Lunch & Learn Planned
