Family cites difficult, emotional conversations behind closure
10/11 News Release
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Campbell’s Nurseries will shut its doors in spring 2027 after serving the Lincoln community for 115 years.
The plant nursery said in a Facebook post Wednesday that it made the decision to close after several difficult and emotional family conversations.
The closure follows the business’s closure of its 40th Street and Normal Boulevard location in June.
Over the next several months, the plant nursery will share old photos, stories and memories to celebrate its employees and customers through the years.
Campbell’s started in 1912 when Claude Campbell began selling extra plants he grew in his Lincoln backyard. His hobby eventually turned into a family business.
