These are Graze Master cattle developed by Del Ficke, co-founder of the Graze Master Group at Ficke Cattle Company.
He developed this herd without computers, or programs, or data on cattle. He did so by observation and culling out what does not work in tandem with nature. He has also studied cattle and agriculture in nearly every state.
Del can help others develop that keen eye if they listen to themselves, not the noise of the industry. That’s why I sought out his skills to help lead our educational consulting group. I looked at the results his mindset can bring to the land and people.

“Everyone in agriculture talks about diversity until they have to do it. Everyone in the cattle business talks about accountability until they can’t do it,” said Del Ficke.
“We built these cattle different and sometimes it’s hard for people to understand,” Ficke noted. “Our data became the phrase we use at the Graze Master Group, ‘Balancing Nature and Profitability.’ Simply put, if they thrive in our environment, they stay, and that leads to profitability. Will we look at new technology to emphasize this? You bet, but it will need to be mobile, because I don’t sit at a computer. We aim to build profitable art and common sense.”
