The H&H Bearcat girls and boys both faced off against the David City Scouts on Monday at 6:30, with the boys playing at the Heartland gym and the girls traveling to David City. The boys lost a very exciting game at the buzzer, 48-45, and the girls lost 54-38.
The girls led the Scouts by two points after the first quarter but just didn’t have an answer for the Scouts’ leading scorer, Kambri Andel, who scored a whopping 33 points, including five 3-pointers. Senior Mia Hiebner knocked down three 3-pointers, leading the Bearcats with 13 points. The David City Scouts are 10-9 and the Bearcats 2-15.

The Bearcat boys came out strong in the first quarter, leading by six points, but went cold in the second quarter. In the opening minutes of the game, Sophomore starting point guard Landen Rojewski went down with an ankle injury and did not return for the rest of the game. Going into halftime, the Bearcats were down 29-22.
After halftime, Holden Switzer gave the Bearcats a spark after a steal and layup, making it a four-point game at 31-27. In the fourth quarter, the Bearcats were still trailing the Scouts by five points, but the Bearcats kept fighting, edging closer as the clock wound down. After a score by Maddox Regier, it was a two-point game, and with 16 seconds to go, Holden Switzer came up big with a shot to tie the game at 45-45. Unfortunately, the Scouts were able to put up a three at the buzzer to win the game.
The David City Scouts have a record of 6-12 and the Bearcats 6-11.
