Senior Mia Hiebner was the lone qualifier for the H&H Bearcat girls’ golf team competing on Monday and Tuesday at Lake Maloney Golf Club. She’s no stranger to the Lake Maloney golf course. This was her third straight year to compete at this course for Class C State golf, with a runner-up finish last year.
Mia’s two-day total gross score was 156, shooting an 81 (41-40) in round one and a 75 (39-36) in round two.
“The season went super well, and I’m happy about how I played at State, too! It was a great way to end my high school career, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me,” said Mia.
Winning the Class C girls state championship was KayLynn Jorgensen from Minden with a 74 (37-37) on day one and 69 (32-37) on day two for a total score of 143. Her younger sister edged out Mia by two strokes for runner-up, shooting a total gross score of 154. Minden won the team standings with a total team score of 649, while second place went to Scoutus Central Catholic with a score of 712.
“I’m proud of the way Mia competed at State. After an up-and-down day on Monday, she came back strong on Tuesday and played some of her best golf of the season,” said Coach Buzek.
