Jason Lewis of Henderson was one of several Nebraska corn farmers who hosted a trade team before the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council’s Global Ethanol Summit in Washington, D.C.
Lewis is a Nebraska Corn Growers Association and National Corn Growers Association board member. At the farm on Oct. 15, the delegation discussed American agriculture and had the opportunity to ride in a combine and the grain cart with the Lewis family.

“Harvest is an ideal time for trade teams to see firsthand the corn leaving the field that will soon be exported to them or in the value-added products they need,” Lewis said. “The work we put into the crops each year can be seen at this time of year, and to have trade teams ride in the combine allows them an experience of connecting field to product.”

The group toured KAAPA Ethanol, explored Bosselman Enterprises Co. in Grand Island, Pump and Pantry and Shell locations offering ethanol-blended fuels and Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha.
The Global Ethanol Summit Sunday through Wednesday featured experts on various topics within the biofuel industry, such as sustainable aviation fuel, industrial applications, clean cooking and maritime fuels.
The summit sought to elevate bioethanol’s international visibility and ongoing initiatives as a viable decarbonization solution within the transportation sector.
More than 350 ministerial-level officials and industry leaders, bioethanol producers and refiners from more than 40 countries attended this year to learn about the environmental and human health benefits of globally expanding the use of biofuels.
