Read Max Lucado’s latest book, “Tame Your Thoughts -Three Tools to Renew Your Mind and Transform Your Life.

Who doesn’t have trouble sometimes controlling what seem to be out-of-control swirling thoughts? Max Lucado offers some excellent, biblically based tools in his latest book, “Tame Your Thoughts,” to help readers do just that.

I spotted his book on one of the display tables at the Kilgore Library in York, featuring new books, and immediately checked it out. Lucado is a best-selling inspirational author and pastor who has written numerous inspirational books as well as devotionals, children’s and young adult books, and fiction.

His book includes what he calls a “tame your thoughts tool kit” with three tools: practice picky thinking, identify untruths that create false narratives in our lives, and learn how to uproot and replant by weeding out unhealthy thought patterns.

Lucado’s writing is clear and easy to understand, always rooted in Scripture that supports how to change your thinking. The book is filled with illustrations, real-life struggles, and Biblical references.

He covers how to battle and escape from anxiety, guilt, lust, pain, rejection, and joylessness. This book is hopeful, explaining how a life with Jesus Christ can equip you with a way of being “made new” and “becoming like the One who made you.”

Change is possible and a better way of living when you “fight to capture every thought until it acknowledges the authority of Christ,” (2 Corinthians 10:5) said Lucado.

The book concludes with a helpful section of study questions for reflection, accompanied by corresponding scriptures to read.
