Since it’s marching season for the Heartland Band, here’s a post from September 2015 when the band competed in the AppleJack Festival Parade and naturally won first place!
Heartland Band Placed First in AppleJack Festival
The Heartland Band traveled to Nebraska City on Saturday to march in the 47th AppleJack Festival. The parade began at 1:00 p.m., and the band was towards the end of the 96 parade entries. Out of the 16 high school bands that competed, Heartland was named the winner of Class C and D. No overall winner of all the classes was selected for the competition.
Congratulations to the Heartland Band on another great performance! The band will compete once more this fall in the Harvest of Harmony Parade on October 3.

Here are a few more photos taken of the band before the parade, practicing in Henderson. In 2015, Henderson’s Main Street was under construction, so the band had to practice marching on other streets in town.
