It was a hot one in the ol’ Heritage Park Sunday night!
The Henderson Mennonite Heritage Committee once again hosted their Russian Oven Pizza Night last Sunday evening, and the temperature outside was nearly as hot as the pizzas that were being pulled, one pan after another, out of the Russian Oven located behind the farmhouse at Heritage Park.
Sheila Huebert and crew once again prepped pizzas by the trayful in advance in order to feed the crowd that had gathered. The heavy iron oven door opened over and over again as a tray of eight personal-sized pizzas was pulled from the fire every eight minutes.
The event got underway at 5:30 p.m. and around 6:30 p.m., peak shade had been reached, compliments of the old dairy barn, as attendees lined up their lawn chairs in neat rows, searching for the best spot to catch a bit of a breeze.
As guests munched on pizza and enjoyed root beer floats, they listened to the cool (at least SOMETHING was cool), mellow tunes performed by Jackson Wayne (Zach Miller), who was again accompanied by the Janzen brothers, Braden and Luke.
It was yet another successful summer event hosted by the Henderson Heritage Committee.
