The new 7 Brew location at 3627 S. Lincoln Ave., near Interstate 80, officially opened for business Monday. Company officials and York chamber ambassadors were on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.

7 Brew is a one-of-a-kind drive-thru concept that offers a fun and energetic vibe, along with a wide array of coffee beverages, infused energy drinks, Italian sodas, smoothies, teas, and milkshakes.

“7 Brew prides itself on three values,” said Chase Oberg, a franchise owner of High Plains Brew, based in Lincoln. “Those are speed, quality of product, and guest interaction. The York location is the ninth 7 Brew location for our High Plains Brew group.”

Oberg

7 Brew was born from a desire to change the drive-thru coffee experience into a fun, mind-blowing event for everyone. The company dreamed of serving premium coffee in record time while making new friends along the way. The dream came alive with the first “stand” in Rogers, Arkansas, and seven original coffees.

Today, 7 Brew operates in 425 locations throughout the country, according to Oberg.

“7 Brew is so much more than just a coffee stand,” Oberg said. “It’s about cultivating kindness and joy with every drink — through our service, speed, quality, energy, and atmosphere. It’s contagious, and it’s changing the drive-thru coffee industry.”

The York 7 Brew is offering community hours this week, when customers can get a free small drink daily from 8 to 9 a.m., noon to 1 p.m., and 5 to 6 p.m. through Friday, July 11. On Saturday, July 12, a free T-shirt will be handed out with every order of a large drink, while supplies last.

Oberg said a 60-foot-high sign is due to be installed Tuesday to help steer customers coming off the interstate to the location. Hours for 7 Brew are 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

He added that the York location currently employs around 40 people.

YNT treasure hunt kicks off today

Pirate Jim is back in York this week and has once again hidden the elusive medallion, starting today with clues for the 38th year of the York News-Times Treasure Hunt.

Cornerstone Bank will again partner in this year’s hunt, providing the $1,000 prize for the lucky person who figures out the clues and finds the medallion.

The medallion has been hidden on public property somewhere within the York city limits. Clues leading to the hiding spot start today, Tuesday, July 8, for 10 publishing days and will also appear on the Cornerstone Bank website. In addition, bonus clues will be posted on the bank’s website.

Year in and year out, this has proved to be very popular, and just about anyone who has looked for the medallion over the years has stories about how close they were to finding it.

Happy hunting, everyone!

What the heck

We made the final five this time. We were at a wedding this past weekend for our nephew’s daughter in Imperial, Nebraska, and they had the dance where they ask all the married couples to get on the dance floor. Then they eliminate couples by the number of years they’ve been married.

As I said, we made the final five for the first time with our 46 years, but we have a long way to go to match the groom’s grandparents, who were the winners at 61 years.

But we’re getting closer all the time.

We had a delightful stay at the Balcony House Bed & Breakfast in Imperial.

Hosted by Jim and Linda Pirog, we highly recommend this as a spot to stay if you ever get out that way. The historical house was clean and comfortable and featured delicious cookies and an excellent breakfast.

We’ll definitely go back sometime.
