Heritage Day was a bit wet this year, but the show went on!
It was a bit wet and cool this year for the Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park’s annual Heritage Day event, but everything went on as planned. Take a look at all the activities everyone enjoyed at this great event this past Saturday.
The frying of New Year’s Cookies was in full swing in the barn and was always a sweet favorite, whether glazed or sugared.
Serving up yummy ethnic foods is a big part of Heritage Day! Zweibach with jelly & peanut butter and freshly cooked waffles with white cream sauce were very popular.
Ian Huebert from Service Press was in the Ag Building demonstrating a letterpress and making Heritage Day postcards. Valerie Nunnenkamp was busy teaching kids quilling.
Always lots of fun stuff to do for kids at Heritage Day — making butter, enjoying a root beer float, or going to Country School!
Plenty of vintage tractors & vehicles on display.
Deb Franz was in the Country Church providing a selection of old-time hymns, and in the Immigrant House the pump organ was fired up and played by Anna Sievers.
Visitors were treated to free popcorn and homemade bread baked by Cathy Wismer in the outdoor Russian Oven.
