It was a great way to kick off the first season for the H&H Bearcat football team, crushing Schuyler 43-0 on Friday night in Schuyler.
The Bearcats dominated the entire game and scored pretty quickly in the first quarter with a 69-yard pass from Landen Hansen to Rylee Scheidemann. The next score came behind some strong rushing by Nevada Gloystein, who got the TD on a three-yard run.
In the second quarter, the Bearcats made quick work of getting the ball down the field for Gloystein to make a six-yard run for the TD. The Warriors were called for offside during the extra point kick, so the Bearcats successfully went for two points. For their next offensive series, Gloystein had several runs to move the team down the field to the six-yard line, where River Glinsman ran in for the TD. The Bearcats were leading 29-0 at halftime.
The Bearcats had a big play to start the second half with a long run that set them up for the seven-yard run by Hansen, making the score 36-0. By the end of the third quarter, the Warriors were starting to move the ball and had a few first downs, but the Bearcats capitalized on an interception to get the ball back. The Bearcats finished off the night behind a great 72-yard run by Waylon Tessman to score the Bearcats final TD.
Here’s what Coach Jereme Jones had to say in a post-game interview with Max Country Radio 104.9:
“And if I drew it up, it wouldn’t have been better than the way it went tonight. I couldn’t be prouder of the way the guys worked, the coaching staff, and Coach Glenn on defense getting the shutout. Coach Jones on offense, his first time calling plays, went down. The guys flying around playing great, getting the shutdown on defense. The offense moving the ball. We didn’t get quite everyone in there, but we got a ton of guys on the field, and they all played. At the end, we had our backups against their starters and still held the shutout, so it was picture-perfect.”
