York County Press Release

YORK – In their most recent regular meeting, the York County Commissioners discussed a wide variety of topics.
Among them:

  • Greg Heine from the roads department reported how ownership has been taken of a new snow plow which had been purchased earlier.
  • An amendment was made to the claims from two weeks ago as a county staff member was no longer employed when the payroll was done but they had not yet been removed from the regular pay-out.
  • Commissioner Chairman Danie Grotz said a few of the funds are being watched to make sure there are no deficits in the next few weeks.
  • Commissioner Deb Robertson said the aging services board held a meeting, during which most of the discussion was about the budget and funding needs.
  • Commissioner Randy Obermier said the York County Visitors Bureau board held its regular meeting – but instead of meeting at the YCVB office they are now meeting at different tourism locations in the county.
  • Commissioner Joe Burgess said he didn’t have any committee meetings to report on, “but I encourage everyone to be safe on the roads. York lost a longtime coach, Randy Johnson, in an accident. A lot of people spent a lot of time with him over the years, he was a great coach and a great person. I just wanted to mention this.”
  • Commissioner Andy Bowman said he has been spending “a lot of time with the roads department and we are still looking for another operator.” He said the pickup used by the weed department has a lot of mileage on it and is having a lot of mechanical issues. “So we are looking at different options for that.”
  • As the board of equalization, they approved two motor vehicle tax exemptions for Epworth Village, which was recommended by the county treasurer.
