Henderson Fuel Stop is under new ownership, and renovations are underway!

It’s been a long time coming, but there is good news for travelers and locals: the Fuel Stop at the I-80 Henderson interchange is partially reopened. It’s been over a year since it closed, and it has been purchased by Paul Kuljit, who is working on getting it up and running again. He owns several other stations, but this is his only station in Nebraska.

The station will be renamed Henderson Petroleum, and once they are able to sell fuel, the signs will be lit up.

Currently, it is open Monday – Friday from 8 – 5 p.m., selling a variety of grocery products, drinks, tobacco products, and assorted snacks and candy. The new manager is Henderson resident Ashley Thompson, who worked there under the previous owners.

“The new owner is working with Seneca to get the fuel tanks cleaned out, including complete tank topper replacement, and cleaning of the filters and lines. Concrete will have to be torn out, so it is a pretty big job,” said Thompson. She said they hope to be selling gas and diesel in another month.

She and another employee, Tanya Leazer, have been working hard to thoroughly clean and repair the store, which had been left in disrepair, making it ready for the public.

“We plan on installing a new fountain machine area and will be stocking more items like diapers and other food staples,” she said.

The gaming machines will be removed, and that area will be replaced with more shelving for basic grocery items, according to Thompson.

They have applied for a liquor license, which is still pending, but have tobacco and food licenses, said Thompson. They will soon be serving hot pizzas and sandwiches.

“Once we get the fuel going, the goal is to be open 24/7,” said Thompson.
