A big crowd attended the Winter Sports Kickoff Pep Rally at the Heartland Gym!
The Heartland cafeteria was overflowing with folks from Hampton and Henderson for the pre-PEP rally meal of Chick-fil-A and BBQ beef from the Loading Chute on Monday evening. The Winter Sports Pep Rally was a fun evening for all who attended, kicking off the inaugural H&H Bearcat basketball season properly.

The Bearcat cheerleaders were handing out free Bearcat swag, and the Heartland Booster Club had signups to win free Bearcat t-shirts.

The pep rally opened with the cheerleaders leading the crowd in the gym with a cheer, and they presented two cheer routines that they are preparing for the upcoming state cheerleading competition. Click here to watch one of their performances!

The girls’ and boys’ basketball teams lined up with their coaches and introduced themselves to the audience. With the combination of Hampton and Heartland, there are plenty of new faces for the fans to learn about and support in the upcoming season.

A lively trivia game was played with select members of each team trying to guess the correct answers from their coaches. Some of the questions asked were “What’s your coach’s pet peeve?” and “What would be your favorite walkout song?” It was a great way to warm up the crowd and students, and to get to know the coaches, with plenty of laughter.

Heartland Booster Club organizers Carrie Regier and Jenny Goertzen did a fantastic job of running the show Monday evening. They led a fun basketball shooting game, pitting the high school boys against the girls, and a racing competition for the elementary students.

Heartland Athletic Director Josh Struckman ended the evening with a few words and thank yous to those who organized the event.
What a great kick off before the winter season of basketball gets underway on Thursday against Fairbury at the Heartland gym!
