Senior Mia Hiebner qualified for the Class C Girls State Golf Tournament for the fourth time and will be competing at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte on October 13 & 14.
It wasn’t an ideal day for golf on Monday, but the Class C-1 district girls’ golf competition was held in very cold and wet conditions anyway. The H&H Bearcat girls’ golf team traveled to Lincoln and competed at Hidden Valley Golf Course for the district tournament. Despite the miserable conditions, Heartland senior Mia Hiebner turned in a sizzling 75 (37-38), winning the District meet and punching her ticket to State!
The closest score placing second was an 87 from Hannah Petersen from Elmwood Murdoch. Junior Tara Buzek shot a 105 (56-49), placing 12th overall, missing qualifying for state by one stroke. Kinsley Friesen shot a 114 (59-55) and Meggan Friesen 154 (84-70). The Bearcats tied for fourth place, with the Sutton team winning the team championship.
“It was very tough conditions today with steady rain throughout the day. I’m very proud of how the girls competed today,” said Coach Buzek.
