It was a great night to celebrate and recognize the many individuals who contributed to the recently completed Heartland construction project!
Around 200 folks gathered at the Heartland Community School high school theater on Sunday evening for the much-anticipated “big reveal” of the recently completed Heartland building project. It’s been a long time coming, but the atmosphere was one of excitement as Superintendent Jeremy Klein took some time to say a few words and recognize key players in the project.
He recognized past board members Kent Allen, Steve Stebbing, Gary Braun, and former Superintendent Brad Best for their vision, planning, and work on the initial bond that was passed in May of 2022. He also commended the current board of Lacey Gloystein, Ryan Goertzen, Jen Hiebner, Jeb Mierau, Tyler Newton, and Tammy Ott for their dedication to seeing the project through.
Tim Ripp from the professional design team at Clark & Enersen was recognized for his integral contributions and Hausmann Construction representatives, Nick Tripe, Jeremy Fast and Josh Albright were recognized for their hard work in getting the project completed on time.
“I’d like to thank everyone here, all of our patrons, parents, and community members, for their support, or we wouldn’t be here today. I appreciate the patience our staff has shown through the inconveniences and disruptions during the building process, which certainly created some challenges. Thank you for everyone’s cooperation!” said Klein.
He pointed out that it’s been 40 years since the school has had such a sizable project and called it “a generational moment for everyone to celebrate today.”
“Our small community can accomplish big things–not to show off but because we value education for our children, the quality of that education, our past investments in education, with an eye to the future,” said Klein.
He reflected on how the project had hit a few detours after with not one but two bond elections were needed so the project could proceed. “Everyone just rolled up their sleeves to figure out how to get it done.”
Board president Tyler Newton expressed appreciation for the tremendous job Superintendent Klein did overseeing such a complex project. The audience gave him a hearty round of applause as well as all the others who were recognized.
Those attending were put into four groups and treated to guided tours led by Klein and board members to see and hear first-hand all of the improvements and new construction.

The north gym has all new bleachers, paint, AC, and the upper deck, which previously housed the weights, has a new set of bleachers!

You have to see the new Huskie weight room to believe it!

The split Kindergarten class has moved into two of the larger rooms, measuring 1500 square feet, with plenty of storage and space. Below, Superintendent Klein explains how this overhead door across from the weight room provides much-needed floor-level access to the theater, making it possible to move in large items like pianos without any lifting.

The Daycare center below is almost ready for kiddos!

Congratulations to Heartland Community School and its patrons for completing such a fantastic project that will serve the current and future needs of the district!
