Here are the Henderson City Council meeting minutes from their meeting on June 10, 2025. Their next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 8th at 7 p.m.

The regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Henderson, Nebraska, was held at 7:00 p.m. on June 10, 2025, at City Hall in Henderson, Nebraska.  Notice of this meeting was posted at City Hall and published in the June 5, 2025, Henderson News.  

Mayor Corbin Tessman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Tessman declared the meeting to be legal and properly advertised with all members having been informed of the nature of the meeting and having received related information. Mayor Tessman referred to the open meetings law poster and stated if a member of the public wishes to speak on matters not listed on the agenda, they may speak during the public forum period. The public may request the item to be placed on a future agenda for deliberation and/or action.  

During the public forum period, speakers will be given five minutes to address the Board. The public should be aware that the Board is unable, by law, to deliberate or act on the items raised during the public forum period.

Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Corbin Tessman.  Council members: Brian Hiebner, Kevin Friesen, and Mitch Huxoll. Absent: Teri Pollet.  

Minutes from the May 13, 2025, regular meeting were reviewed. Mitch Huxoll made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Kevin Friesen seconded.  Roll vote: Ayes – Mitch Huxoll, Kevin Friesen, and Brian Hiebner. Absent: Teri Pollet. Motion carried.

Kevin Friesen made a motion to pay the claims as presented. Brian Hiebner seconded.  Roll vote: Ayes – Kevin Friesen, Brian Hiebner, and Mitch Huxoll. Absent: Teri Pollet. Motion carried.

Three permits were issued since the last meeting.  Dorthie Randles for a fence, Mitch Huxoll for egress windows, and Henderson Health Care Services for a clinic addition. 

No one was present for the public forum.

Discussion of adding water and sewer service to Derek Hiebner’s and Mainstay Communications buildings by the golf course was had.  The council asked the engineers to prepare a design/budget to extend the water and sewer services from Ash Street/S 15th Street to the these buildings.  No formal action taken at this time.

An estimate from Nunnenkamp Electric was reviewed to install a standby portable generator with a transfer switch for the North Maintenance Shop.  It was decided to budget for the portable generator and transfer switch in the 2025-26 budget year. No formal action taken.

Representatives from the Recreation Department Committee were present to discuss the difficulty of getting volunteers to help with the concessions for ballgames.  It was mentioned to talk with pool managers to see if any lifeguards would sign up and work at the concessions stand for the minimum wage rate.  This will be a trial run for the 2025 ball season to see if this would be something to help for future seasons.  No formal action taken.

Reports were given. 

Brian Hiebner made a motion to adjourn.  Kevin Friesen seconded.  Roll vote: Ayes – Brian Hiebner, Kevin Friesen and Mitch Huxoll.  Absent: Teri Pollet.  Motion carried.
