YORK COUNTY – The valuation protest period has started, according to York County Assessor Kurt Bulgrin.

The protest filing period will end June 30.

If someone wants to protest their property valuation, they can file a protest in order to have a hearing a before the York County Commissioners sitting as the board of equalization.

“Protests are to be filed with the York County Clerk’s office; however, I would encourage anyone with questions about their value to stop by the assessor’s office first,” Bulgrin said. “Reasons for valuation increases this year include: updated costing manual; updated land values (last land study was conducted in 2017) and market increases based on sales within a valuation group.”

All residential and commercial properties must be valued between 92-100% of actual value per state law. Ag land is valued at 69-75% of valuation value.
