What is Zephyr Fest? What is Pediatric Cancer Action Network – PCAN?

Zephyr Fest, Rockin’ For a Reason, is an annual event hosted by the Rockin’ For a Reason non-profit organization and the band Iron Zephyr of York, Nebraska. Members include Mark Sulzle, Brandon Logston, Jen Richtarik, Isaac Sulzle, Lisa Singleton and Keith Perkins.

Members Mark and Isaac Sulzle wanted a way to give back to their community while performing in their hometown, and that is how Zephyr Fest was created.

Please bring your friends, family, lawn chairs, beverages, and a pop-up tent to join us for Zephyr Fest on June 21st at the York County Fairgrounds, starting at 2 pm.

For the past four years, Zephyr Fest has received tremendous support from local bands, food vendors, businesses, and community members from all over, making this dream a successful annual event.

In our first year of Zephyr Fest, we were able to donate funds to the Peyton, Parker, Lane Playground non-profit in York to build a zero-entry, handicap-accessible playground.

In our second year of Zephyr Fest, our donations were presented to the Soaring For C non-profit organization in York.

Our third year for Zephyr Fest, Teammates of York, was the recipient of our donations. Last year, our Zephyr Fest funds were presented to the Pediatric Cancer Action Network. Every year, Zephyr Fest continues to change and grow for the better, and we are very proud of where this annual community event is heading.

Since year one, we have added bounce houses for kids, a cornhole tournament and face painting.

We have had local bands from all over perform of different genres including  Kyle Sayler in Kearney, Paisty Jenny who has been around many years and has York connections,  Monsters At Bay from Fairbury, Luke Mills from Holdredge, SAUL, Blinker Fluid from Geneva, Arcade Radio from Columbus, Wild Roses from Kearney, The Personal Blues Revelation, Humboldts Quid, Kris Lager, Ingrid Griffin, Hall County Incident of Grand Island and of course Iron Zephyr from York, Nebraska.

This is a free-will offering, family-friendly event for all ages, featuring live music, a cornhole tournament, bounce houses, face painting, food trucks, and fun for everyone.

Zephyr Fest 2025 is set for Saturday, June 21st. The proceeds of this year’s event will be presented again to the Pediatric Cancer Action Network (PCAN).

PCAN is a charity organization based in Lincoln, Nebraska, that helps alleviate the financial burden on families diagnosed with pediatric cancer and advocates for a cure through awareness, education, and action. They have helped many families since 2014 with bills, transportation, and even the funeral costs of those who have lost the fight.

Board member, Ashley Bower, lives in rural York County with her husband and four children and works at Penners.  Ashley became inspired to help other families going through similar situations.

Following the end of her son’s winning battle in 2017, Ashley looked for ways that she could best serve families that were going through similar situations while also spreading awareness and advocating for better research and treatment options for all kids facing a cancer diagnosis.

Ashley became a board member for the Pediatric Cancer Action Network and has made it her life’s mission to advocate for Nebraska families, like hers, going through some of life’s toughest battles.

With your help, we can make a difference, together.

Join us for a full day of live music, food trucks, bounce houses, face painting, cornhole tournament put on by Chris Reynolds, 50/50 raffle, custom guitar built by Brandon Logston give away and fun for all ages.

Zephyr Fest 2025 artists and bands will feature an artist showcase with performances by Anthony Segovia Music, Brandon Logston Music, Brandon Ulmer from Brandon and the Elevens, and Isaac Sulzle. Performing bands will be Humboldt’s Quid, Hockett, The Kyle Sayler Band, and Iron Zephyr.
