Heartland Football Ends Season in First Playoff Game

On Thursday, October 21, the Heartland Football Team made the two-hour trip Stanton to compete in the first round of the playoffs.

Facing a strong Mustang team, the Huskies came up short with a score of 12-57. Quarterback Trev Peters was 11/26 for 128 yards. He also had 21 carries for 73 yards. Kale Wetjen added 13 carries for 59 yards and five receptions for 42 yards. Zach Quiring led with five tackles, and Trajan Arbuck had four tackles. The team concluded their season with a 6-3 season record.

Coach Ben Lindsay commented, “Overall, I was very impressed with the boys this season. We grew as a team and as individuals and really came into our own during the last half of the season. Unfortunately, we played a tough Stanton team in the 1st round and didn’t end like we wanted to. We ended the year at 6-3 with a district championship and several team and individual records that were broken.”
