Girls & Boys Basketball: Huskies Break the Bison [STATS] [PHOTOS]

The Heartland Huskie boys’ and girls’ teams were back on the court last night as they kicked off their Holiday Tournament against the Central City Bison.  The Huskies teams took both games and will continue onto the championship games tonight.

The girls game was extended into overtime.  Senior, Jen Yoder had a couple of huge plays at the end of the game to take it into extra time as she got an offensive rebound off a missed free throw and then hit a pull up jumper to tie the game.  Junior Mikaelyn Dick hit a big three when the Huskies needed it most and she finished with team high 11 points.  Turnovers were a hassle for both teams as the clocked ticked down, but the Huskies prevailed with a 33-32 win.

The Heartland boys came out fiery and worked hard on both ends of the court to do their best to get the win.  Freshman, Jordan Heinrichs started off the game hitting and finished with team high 14 points.  The physical game got a rise from the crowd and an intentional foul against the Bison sent Heinrichs to the line for two shots.  He hit on one and the Huskies got the ball back and went on to secure the game by winning 36-28.

Milford boys and girls won their first round games and will be taking on the Huskies tonight.  The girls will face off at 6:15pm and the boys at 8:00pm.  If you or someone you know cannot make the big games tonight, log onto HeartlandBeat.com and you can watch the games that are streamed LIVE on the Huskie Sports Network.
