H&H Bearcats Volleyball Team Beats Twin River and Loses to Shelby-Rising City at First Home Triangular

It was an exciting night for the first-ever H&H Bearcat volleyball triangular at Hampton on Thursday! Both student bodies were out in full force to cheer on the Bearcats, along with the cheerleading squad and fans. Here are the results!

H&H vs. Twin River Match (24-26, 25-12, 25-18)

The Bearcats faced off against the Twin River Titans and had a solid match, winning 2-1 (24-26, 25-12, and 25-18). The first game was very close, with each team trading points back and forth one at a time. The game was tied at 24-24, and the Titans managed to secure the following two points, ultimately winning 26-24. The Bearcats dominated the next two games with plenty of aces, blocks, and kills. In the second game, Junior Khloe Luebbe had three straight aces, giving the Bearcats their largest lead at 24-10. The third game was a bit closer, but the Bearcats never lost their lead, winning 25-18.

H&H BEARCATS VS. TWIN RIVER TITANS STAT HIGHLIGHTS

Riley Quiring led the team with eight kills, Sophie Minary with seven, and Sophie Schultze with six. Libero Jaylah Gross led the team with 19 digs, Riley Quiring and Khloe Luebbe each had nine. Setter Ava Hurt had a stellar match with 24 assists. Jaylah Gross and Riley Quiring each served for eight points.

H&H vs. Shelby-Rising City Match (26-24, 13-25, 20-25)

This was an up-and-down match for the Bearcats, as they lost 1-2 to SRC, but they pulled off an impressive first-set win, beating the Huskies 26-24. The Huskies had just defeated Twin River in two sets. This game was back and forth, but the Bearcats were behind as much as four points before they rallied to tie the game at 24-24 with a kill by Sophie Minary. They stunned the Huskies by taking the following two points for the win.

The momentum shifted considerably in the second game, with the Huskies dominating through some tough serves that kept the Bearcats on their heels and out of system, resulting in a 13-25 loss. In the third set, the Bearcats were down 12-19 but started inching their way back into the game with some good serving and blocks. They got within two points at 20-22 but couldn’t stop the Huskies, who went on to beat them 20-25.

H&H BEARCATS VS. SHELBY-RISING CITY STAT HIGHLIGHTS

Riley Quiring led the team with seven kills, followed by Maddie Janzen and Sophie Schultze with five kills each. Jaylah Gross had 22 digs, and Khloe Luebbe had 15. Ava Hurt recorded 19 assists, and Jaylah Gross had two aces and served for nine points.
