The Bradshaw new water tower stands 140 feet high and will hold 75,000 gallons of water.

The Village of Bradshaw has just recently erected a new water tower right across from the former Bradshaw school. If you’re driving towards Bradshaw on Highway 34, you can’t miss it looming overhead, standing 140 feet high.

“This project has been on the back burner for several years, and with the availability of funding through a state revolving loan, it’s finally become a reality,” said Bradshaw Village Clerk Stephanie Metzger.

The new water tower will greatly increase the villages’ water pressure by about 20 PSI, according to Metzger. Currently, their water pressure runs around 37-38, and with the larger 75,000-gallon water tower, it should be about 60 PSI.

Structurally, the tower is complete except for some electrical work. All that remains is the interior and exterior painting. “If the weather cooperates, we are scheduled to have it completely painted by April. It will be up and running as soon as all the inspections are complete,” said Metzger.

Below are the drawings of what the finished water tower will look like with the black and white painting.

The State Revolving Fund Program (SRF) awarded them a below-market interest loan for $659,230. They also received a loan forgiveness grant for $442,770. Federal and state funds are used in this program that is designed to help communities grow in Nebraska. This program is provided through the Nebraska Department of Environment & Energy.

The village already owned the lot where the water tower was built, which has always been empty. After the completion of the water tower, they will consider the removal of the existing standpipe.
