The Heartland Huskie boys’ and girls’ basketball teams hosted the Sutton Mustangs and Fillies on Tuesday, December 5. Both Sutton teams came out on top against the Huskies with the girls losing 30-42 and the boys 41-44.

The Heartland girls fell behind early in the first half and were held scoreless in the 1st quarter. They generated some offense in the 3rd quarter and the team was led in scoring with 10 points by Emersyn Oswald.

Due to technical difficulties and a discrepancy in the books with the individual points not matching up with the final score, accurate stats were unavailable for the girl’s game.

It was down to the wire in the boy’s game, and after an ice-cold shooting spell in the 2nd quarter, the Huskies fell behind by as much as 10 points. But there was no give-up in the Huskies, who came roaring back in the third quarter after a steal and slam dunk by Carter Siebert, getting the Huskies within six points down 26-30.

The rest of the game had several lead changes, and with 38 seconds remaining, the Huskies were only down by 1 point, 41-42. With just a few seconds left, the Huskies had a chance to tie up the game with a three-point attempt, but they came up short and lost 41-44.
