Two stand-alone events that were new in 2015 will now be held together in 2016 for one great night of activities in Henderson this fall. The Husker Tailgate Party and charity run, now known as the Halftime Hustle, will both happen on September 24.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., the Henderson Downtown Park will be the place to be as Nebraska takes on Northwestern on the big screen in the band shelter with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and get ready to cheer on your favorite team. Concessions will be available throughout the evening and PERKS will be open for supper.

Screen Shot 2016-08-23 at 9.39.35 AMDuring halftime, the chamber will host their annual Charity Run, but the Halftime Hustle has a new twist. This year runners in the 1 mile or 5K can choose one of seven Henderson nonprofit groups to support with their registration. Bethesda Preschool, Heartland Booster Club, HHCS Jr. Auxiliary, Heartland National Honor Society, Henderson Community Foundation, Henderson Fire & Rescue, and Heritage Park will all benefit from this run and the organizations that is chosen by the most runners will receive a bonus donation.

Early registration is now open until September 12, so runners and walkers are encouraged to register before the price increase, either by picking up a registration form at City Hall or visiting www.GetMeRegistered.com/HalftimeHustleRun.

Not a runner but still want to support these great organizations?  You can make a donation through this event and receive an “I Donut Run” t-shirt and a donut to eat by using the same forms of registration above.

Don’t miss these great community events all happening on Saturday, September 24, in the Henderson Downtown Park starting at 6:00 p.m.
