York County Press Release
YORK – While there were 281 names written in for York County Surveyor in this week’s General Election, and nine of those were for Virlyn Bolte, Bolte will become the new York County Surveyor, as this candidate was the only one certified as a write-in candidate.
Longtime York County Surveyor Rex Heiden decided to retire and did not file his candidacy this year. No other candidates formally filed – but Bolte did later certify as an assigned write-in candidate.
York County Clerk Mary Melby said Bolte “was the only certified write-in for this race so the only write-in votes that counted for the race were variations of her name.”
Melby also noted that she expected to have the York County election results certified by the end of this week or early next week – until then, all results are considered unofficial.
