Klute Inc. believes in equipping its employees for their professional development. They are a family-owned steel fabrication company based in York County that supports workforce development efforts.
They have partnered with York County Development Corporation (YCDC) to provide the renowned Dale Carnegie Leadership Course to Klute employees for the past few years.
“Our primary goal is to increase communication and leadership within our organization. I strongly believe in investing in our employees both for our business and for their personal growth. Having gone through Dale Carnegie 20 years ago, I witnessed the improvements in myself and have continually gone back to my learnings over the years,” said President Jordan Klute.
In March, Klute had 14 graduates complete the Dale Carnegie Course. “They were able to strengthen their skills in leadership, communication, and relationship building. The participants challenged themselves, grew in confidence, and developed practical tools they can bring back to the workplace and teams,” according to YCDC.
Jalen Maxon, Training and Development Specialist at Klute, attended the 8-week class and learned how he could improve as a communicator and leader. “It equips you with these new conversation tools and a conversational awareness for you to try and put into action to make yourself a better day-to-day communicator, both at work and at home with your family.”
Kiley Palmertree, a recruiting manager at Klute, said she believed she was naturally outgoing in her profession and didn’t initially think she needed to develop her communication skills.
“What I quickly realized, though, is that there’s an art to delivering a message effectively. Too often, the message itself can get lost in the delivery, whether in exciting or challenging conversations. Dale Carnegie provided practical tools and a clear framework to strengthen that delivery. One of the most valuable aspects of the class, though, is the opportunity to connect and build relationships with classmates and teammates.”
Another goal for Klute Inc. was the opportunity to partner with YCDC, bringing Dale Carnegie to the York area, and allowing the community to take part in the training as well.
“The training is normally only held in large cities or online, so this is really a special thing to have here in the York area. We plan to keep doing classes a few times a year for the next few years,” said Klute.
The Dale Carnegie leadership training for management is “designed to strengthen communication, build confidence, cultivate leadership, and enhance relationships—skills that create lasting impact in both the professional and personal life,” according to YCDC.
