It’s not often that Nebraska spring weather cooperates as it did on Tuesday, and the Bearcats took full advantage of it with 8 FIRST PLACE FINISHES—blowing away the competition!
The H&H Bearcat Track & Field team hosted its own invite at the Heartland track on Tuesday, enjoying a beautiful day weather-wise. The Bearcat boys had a super day, winning first place, scoring 130.5 points. The girls finished in 6th place, scoring 48 points.
It was a stellar day for the boys, with numerous first-place finishes dominating the field in the relays, winning the 4 x 100 (45.25), 4 x 400 (3:37.49), and the 4 x 800 (8:37.10).
Waylon Tessman took home the gold in the pole vault, clearing 11’8″. Samuel Friesen won both the 100 M run (11.61) and the 200 M run (23.66), and Holden Switzer captured second place in the 400 M run (53.31).
Nevada Gloystein had a great performance, taking first place in both the 110 M hurdles (17.06) and the 300 M hurdles (43.75). Trenton Goertzen took second in the 1600 M run (4:51.35), and Mason Wiens was right behind in third place at 5:09.98.

Highlights for the girls were Hallie Tessman winning first place in the pole vault, going 9’2″. She also placed second in the 200 M run with a time of 28.36. It was good to see Tara Buzek back running her first individual event this week and placing second in the 800 M run, clocking in at 2:28.60. Maddie Janzen placed third in the 3200 M run at 12:55.23.
