Many Election Candidate Filings Take Place as Incumbent Dealine is Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m.

Editor’s Note: The Heartland School Board has two incumbents, Jen Hiebner and Tammy Ott, who have not filed to run as of today. The Henderson City Council has two other incumbents who haven’t filed yet- Teri Pollet and Brian Hiebner.

YORK – There have been many election candidate filings in recent days as the incumbent deadline arrives for the 2026 Primary Election.

The deadline for incumbents arrives at 5 p.m. today, Feb. 17. Non-incumbents have until March 2 to file their candidacies.

The following people have filed to run for local offices, so far:

Daniel Grotz, incumbent, for District 1 county commissioner, Andy Bowman, incumbent, for District 3 county commissioner, Randy Obermier, incumbent, for District 4 county commissioner, Kurt Bulgrin, incumbent, for county assessor, Gary Olson, incumbent, for county attorney, Mary Melby, incumbent, for county clerk, Sharilyn Steube, incumbent, for clerk of the district court, Timothy Matas, non-incumbent, for county public defender, Joshua Gillespie, non-incumbent, for sheriff, Megan Williams, incumbent, for county treasurer, Ryan Goertzen, incumbent, for Heartland School Board, Alysia Clark, Krystal Rasmussen and Matthew Clark, all incumbents, for McCool School Board Alison North, Alex Hildebrand and Pepper Papineau, all incumbents, for York School Board Jordan Hiebner, incumbent, for Henderson City Council, Stephen Postier, Doreen Lopez and Scott Van Esch, all incumbents, for York City Council.

There have also been a few candidate filings for village board elections, although those deadlines do not arrive until this summer:

Kim Sheehan, incumbent, for Village of Gresham Sandra Browitt, incumbent, for Village of McCool Junction Dustin Drake, incumbent, for Village of Thayer Don Copeland and Rick Pfeifer, both incumbents, for Village of Waco.
