H&H Bearcat Girls & Boys Come Up Short Against Osceola Bulldogs on Thursday

The Bearcats girls and boys each had pretty hard-fought games on Thursday against the Osceola Bulldogs at the Hampton gym. The girls lost 48-37 and the boys lost 72-64.

The Bearcat girls scratched and clawed, battling the Bulldogs the entire game, but came up short in the fourth quarter. They had a spark in the third quarter, behind a steal by Mia Hebner, and were only down by seven points going into the final quarter. Sophie Minary had a strong offensive showing, leading the team with 19 points. For Oceola, junior Bella Recker had a game-high 20 points against the Bearcats.

The H&H Bearcat girls will begin sub-district play on Monday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. vs. Centennial at Centennial.

The Bearcat boys had an exciting game against the Bulldogs, leading 10-6 after the first quarter and keeping the lead well into the third quarter. The Bulldogs inched their way back with their first lead at 39-38. Just a few plays later, the crowd erupted after a dunk by Maddox Regier, which tied the game at 40-40. He was the leading scorer for the Bearcats with 20 points.

The Bulldogs outscored the Bearcats 7-2 to end the third quarter, and the Bearcats were unable to catch them the rest of the game. The Bearcats had a few players get into foul trouble, and Jagger Regier fouled out with 6:22 to go in the fourth quarter. After the loss, the Bearcats are 7-12 and the Bulldogs 7-13.

The boys will return to action on Friday, Feb. 20 at Tri County.
