The H&H Bearcat girls and boys basketball teams hosted the EMF Bobcats on Thursday at Heartland with the Bobcats coming out on top. The girls lost 35-21, and the boys lost 75-49.

The Bearcat girls put up a gritty performance against the Bobcats, and despite only scoring one point in the first quarter, they came back strong in the second with a spark from Hallie Tessman, who scored two consecutive buckets. Going into halftime, they were down 17-11 and were still in contention. They couldn’t generate enough offense in the fourth quarter and came up short despite a strong defensive effort. The EMF Bobcats have a 7-10 record and the H&H Bearcats are 1-14.

The Bearcat boys were a bit shorthanded on Thursday, missing Wyatt Dose and Porter Dose due to illness so it was all hands on deck for the Bearcats. The Beaarcats hung tough in the first quarter but had a hard time defending 6’6″ Junior Grady Bresson, who had 20 points for the Bobcats. Maddox Regier had a strong performance, putting up 10 of his 18 points in the second quarter. The tight Bobcat defense made it difficult for the Bearcats to put up a shot in the third quarter when they fell behind 58-33. After the win, the EMF Bobcats are 13-4, and the Bearcats are 5-10.
