The Heartland quiz bowl team traveled to Seward on Wednesday, May 6th, to compete in the Underclassmen Quiz Bowl Tournament. The morning consisted of 3 rounds of competition, and the team finished undefeated with victories over McCool Junction B, Nebraska Christian B, and Howells- Dodge. This set the team up to earn the number 3 seed in the small school division single-elimination tournament.
The Huskies faced the number 14 seed from High Plains and defeated them in dominant fashion by a score of 175-20. The next round was a rematch with the B team from Nebraska Christian, and although the score was much closer this time, the team advanced to the next round. The third-round opponent was the number 2 seed from McCool Junction A.
Once again, the team was victorious and advanced to the championship round against the A team from Nebraska Christian. The match did not go as well as planned and the Huskies lost a lopsided match to bring home the runner-up trophy.
The quiz bowl team had a very successful season, and with a number of members returning and new members joining, we look to build on this year’s success.
