BEARCAT BOYS TAKE 1ST PLACE AT EMF INVITE – GIRLS PLACE 5TH!
It’s always a bonus when a track meet falls on a perfect weather day, and that was the case for the EMF Invite at Friend on Tuesday.
“It was a good day yesterday for the Bearcats! We had a boys team championship and numerous first-place finishes,” said Coach Buzek. The girls had 11 PRs, and the boys had 10!
Top finisher for the girls was Tara Buzek, who placed first in the 800 M run at 2:32.23 and won the 400 M run at 1:03.48. Hallie Tessman won the pole vault with a 9-6 vault.
The boys had six first-place finishes, piling up 107 points to win the meet.
Sam Friesen won the 100 M run (11.377), Trenton Goertzen won the 1600 M run (5:00.00), Nevada Gloystein was first in the 110 M Hurdles (15.95), and Maddox Regier won the high jump, going 6’2″. The boys placed first in both the 4 x 100 M Relay (45.76) and the 4 x 400 M Relay (3:39.23).
Their next meet will be the Central Nebraska Track and Field Championships at Northwest High School in Grand Island on Monday, which is an invite-only meet. “We are hoping that we can get some individual qualifiers as well as some qualifying relays,” said Coach Buzek.
The Southern Nebraska Conference Invitational Track Meet in David City will be on Saturday, May 2.
