Weekend Recaps, Photos & Stats for H&H Bearcat Girls & Boys BB Games
The H&H Bearcat girls and boys hosted the Fullerton Warriors on Friday night in Hampton. It was a packed and noisy gym for both games along with some very entertaining basketball. The girls came away with a much-needed first win against the Warriors, 47-37. The boys played a highly competitive game against the now 10-2 Warriors, but lost a very close one, 62-57.
GIRLS GAME RECAP vs. FULLERTON:
The Bearcat girls came ready to play on Friday when Maddie Janzen knocked down a 3-pointer to jumpstart the game. They held the Warriors to single digits in the first quarter and went into halftime with a comfortable 20-13 lead. Fullerton was plagued by too many turnovers, and the Bearcats capitalized in the third quarter with senior Mia Hiebner catching fire, scoring 9 points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving the Bearcats a 38-27 lead. The fourth quarter was low-scoring for both teams, but the Bearcats never let the Warriors make a run, holding on to win the game.

BOYS GAME vs. FULLERTON RECAP:
The Bearcat boys had a tough assignment against the Warriors, who had only two losses this season, but they were up to the task. Maddox Regier opened up the first lead for the Bearcats with a three-pointer and scored 8 of the Bearcats’ 11 points in the first quarter. The Bearcats were trailing 20-17 in the 2nd quarter when Holden Switzer scored a layup and one, tying the game at 20-20. The Warriors answered back to take back the lead, and Switzer drove in to once again tie up the game at 22-22, followed by the Warriors scoring two. Switzer scored again to tie up the game at halftime at 24-24.
In the 3rd quarter, the Bearcats got their largest lead of the game, 36-31, behind a hot Regier, who made two of his five game-high 3-pointers. The Bearcats began the 4th quarter only one point behind the Warriors, and the game remained tight down to the last minutes before the Warriors pulled away, winning by five points.

Bearcat Boys Battle Cross County Cougars on Saturday
The Bearcats traveled to play Cross County on Saturday afternoon, losing 60-50. It was a closer game than the final score, with the Bearcats only behind by two points at the end of the half after Holden Switzer went through heavy traffic, scoring a layup at the buzzer. The Bearcats showed no signs of quitting in their game and tied it up at 26-26 early in the third quarter.
The Cougars’ offense never let up, and midway through the third quarter, they led 38-30. But the Bearcats made a run and had another buzzer-beater from Rojewski, ending the quarter only five points behind at 44-38. Behind the shooting of Benson Sein, who led the Cougars with 20 points, and Benji Coleman with 19, the Bearcats couldn’t keep up and lost 60-50.
