Heartland vocal music teacher Lynn Hall at Doane University during Homecoming to receive the Platt Music Award!

Heartland’s vocal music instructor, Lynn Hall, received the Platt Music Award from Doane University last week. The Platt Alumni Music Award is presented to alumni for outstanding achievement in music. He is a 1993 Doane graduate, and the Doane music department selected Mr. Hall for this prestigious award. He received the award during Doane’s homecoming activities last Sunday, October 5.

Mr. Hall has been teaching at Heartland for the past 29 years, and before that, he taught for two years at Meridian and Wahoo.

“I’ve been fortunate to be at Heartland for all of these years. Teaching music at a small school can be very difficult, but it works well at Heartland because the district, administration, staff, and parents are so supportive. Many music teaching careers are considerably shorter, as many small schools do not offer the same type of supportive environment that is found here. It was a privilege to be able to have my own children in the same building as students while teaching here. Henderson and Heartland have been a great place for Daphne and I to raise our family and be close to our roots,” said Mr. Hall.

Congratulations to Mr. Hall for being recognized as an outstanding vocal instructor!
