Mainstay Communications in Henderson recently introduced a new service called SmartTown at the Henderson Aquatic Center. Heartlandbeat gave it a try at the pool the other day, and it worked great! Below are the instructions posted at the pool for accessing SmartTown. It’s super easy.
Here’s what comes up on your phone when you connect with SmartTown.
During this trial period, anyone, whether a Mainstay subscriber or not, may access SmartTown and enjoy free Wi-Fi at the pool. Mainstay approached the Henderson City Council at their last meeting to get permission for installing SmartTown and explained how it would work.
Anne Regier, co-manager of the Henderson Aquatic Center, said it’s been nice to have this service available to anyone at the pool, allowing them to access the internet easily.
“The idea behind SmartTown is to be able to offer public Wi-FI to Mainstay subscribers first in public places like the parks, ball fields, and pool. Eventually, the goal is that SmartTown will extend Internet coverage all over town,” said General Manager Jeremiah Duerksen.
In September, Mainstay will introduce a variety of new package rates that include SmartTown for subscribers, allowing access throughout the town.
