With less than a month until Community Days, the scheduled for this years event has a great lineup of events taking place on July 13, 14 and 15.

With so many activities going on, you should be aware that some of the events taking place will need some advanced planning if you want to participate.  Registration forms for each of these events can be found on the Henderson Chamber  website at www.HendersonNE.com on the “Play” page under Community Days. http://www.cityofhenderson.org. Or you can pick up a registration form at City Hall.

If you are athletically inclined, or just enjoy walking or running, the HHCS Jr. Auxiliary Jaunt maybe the event for you, with a 5K and 10K Run/Walk for adults.  While you can register the morning of the race, you will save time and money if you register ahead of time.

If you are more of a team sport person, sign up your team of 6-8 people for the Co-ed Dodgeball Tournament on Friday evening.  This tournament will be put on by the Heartland FFA, but you must be at least a 7th grader as of the 2011-2012 school year.

Parade registration forms are not required ahead of time, but the first entries turned in will be at the front of the parade.  It is FREE to participate in the parade and anyone can have a float, drive a car, or participate in anyway they choose.  Registration and line-up for the parade will being at 9:30 am on Saturday at the corner of North Main Street and Oak Street with the parade starting at 10:30 a.m.

In the Downtown Park on Saturday there will once again be several inflatables include, a Double Slide (this one is dry), an Animal Kingdom Play Yard and Wrecking Ball Game.  The inflatables are a great way to entertain children but large enough for adults to participate too.  In order to keep everyone safe during these activities, each individual planning to play on the inflatable will need to wear a wristband, which can be obtained by having a guardian sign an event waiver, which will be available at City Hall prior to the weekend or in the downtown park on Saturday.  Again, these wristbands are FREE, but an adult must sign a waver in order for their children to receive a wristband and play on the inflatables.

Are you new to the Henderson area or have a neighbor who just moved to town in the last year? If so, you need to pick up a newcomers ticket to the Chamber BBQ  happening on Friday evening during Community Days.  We are encouraging neighbors to invite newcomers to this event so they can get to know more people in the community of Henderson.  If you recently moved to town or know someone who has, stop by the Chamber office to pick up your free ticket to the Chamber BBQ.

While these events are only a snapshot of the activities happening during Community Days, it is obvious that there is a reason to mark your calendar for Community Days on July 13, 14 and 15.
