The Mennonite Brethren Church hosted the Henderson Care Center and Rosewood Court’s annual summer picnic on Thursday, September 15th at 6:00 p.m.   The residents and families enjoyed good food, fellowship and entertainment. The entertainment was provided by Wally James, a gospel singer and songwriter from Florida.  James loves to travel around the country singing in churches and care centers. The picnic was well attended and a wonderful opportunity for residents and family members to spend time together.
The September birthday party was held Friday, September 16th, at the Henderson Care Center. Janna Schrunk, Activities Director for the Henderson Care Center, schedules the monthly entertainment. Jeanette Kleve, from Central City, was the featured entertainment. Kleve played an instrument called the Cordabox, which is described as an electric accordion. Residents from the Care Center and Rosewoood Court enjoyed many polkas and waltzes played by Kleve. Following Kleve’s program, “Happy Birthday†was sung to each one of the residents who had birthdays in the month of September. Those honored were Ardith Regier, Mac Bergen, Annabel Bristow, Elsie Epp, Fritz Kingma, and Estalean Quiring. Cake and ice cream were then served to the residents and family members.
