York County Development Press Release
Every year, York County Development Corporation recognizes individuals who have had a significant impact on economic and community development. These people are having a ripple effect that will pay dividends for a long time. We are honored to present three this year; Anthony Jacobson, Stephanie Metzger, and Shannon Lienen
Anthony Jacobson – Elevating Rural Voices and Supporting Community Growth
Our first honoree is a champion for rural communities and a strong supporter of local businesses and non-profits. As a leader with the Nebraska Rural Radio Association and station leader for 104.9 Max Country and Kool Radio, Anthony Jacobson ensures that our communities stay informed and connected.
But his impact doesn’t stop there. Through his work, Anthony has been instrumental in supporting organizations like YCDC’s Spark Program, helping entrepreneurs gain the resources and visibility they need to succeed. Whether it’s providing marketing support, coordinating video projects, or simply offering fresh ideas to enhance community events, Anthony is always willing to lend a hand.
His dedication strengthens both the economic and philanthropic fabric of York County, and we are so grateful for his continued efforts.

Stephanie Metzger – A Pillar of Local Government and Community Development
Our next awardee is a leader whose work often happens behind the scenes but has a profound impact on the community. As the Village Clerk for Bradshaw, Stephanie Metzger plays a crucial role in ensuring the town’s continued growth and vitality.
Her leadership was instrumental in coordinating efforts to upgrade the village’s electric system, paving the way for Central Valley Ag’s expansion—an investment that will benefit Bradshaw and York County for decades to come. She has also been a driving force in growing Bradshaw Days, strengthening community ties, and working with YCDC to address local housing needs, leading to the addition of seven new homes in the area this year.
Stephanie’s efforts ensure that small-town leadership remains a powerful force for economic and community growth. Her passion for progress and commitment to making Bradshaw a great place to live and work make her truly deserving of this recognition.

Dr. Shannon Leinen – Visionary Leader in Education, Business, and Community Growth
Our final awardee this evening is a visionary leader whose contributions extend across education, business, and community development. As the Provost of York University, a small business owner, and the Director of Nebraska Youth Camp, Dr. Shannon Leinen wears many hats—but no matter the role, her focus is always on empowering others and building a stronger community.
One shining example of her leadership is her role in securing the Sound and Vision Grant for York University in collaboration with Collins Aerospace. This initiative has provided new educational and technological opportunities, not only for students but for the entire community. Her openness to innovation, her ‘yes’ mindset, and her ability to bring people together set her apart as a true changemaker in York County.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Leinen’s warmth, generosity, and dedication to lifting others up make her an incredible asset to our community.
“These three individuals—Anthony Jacobson, Stephanie Metzger, and Dr. Shannon Leinen—have each made a lasting impact on York County in their own unique ways. They exemplify the values of leadership, service, and progress that drive our community forward.
On behalf of the York County Development Corporation, congratulations to our 2025 Impact Award winners, and thank you all for your dedication to making York County an incredible place to live, work, and thrive!”
