Lou Obrinsky loves her new space on Mainstreet for her Studio H Salon
Seeing a home-based business move to a public space in Henderson is always great. Lou Obrinsky opened her Studio H Hair Salon in the Rural & Well Boutique at 905 N. Main Street in February.
Before moving to Henderson in March 2022, Lou had worked in a salon in Sutton, which was badly damaged in the tornado that destroyed some of the downtown area. When she and her family moved to Henderson, they bought a house on North Main Street, which had a space to incorporate her salon, but things changed.
She and her husband, Will, purchased the new spec home built by the city, and it wasn’t economically feasible to incorporate her business into the new house. They have three young children: Althea, seven years old; Bodie, two; and Lenna, three months old. Her husband, Will, is a lineman at Perennial Public Power in York.
“I really like being in a more professional setting for my business without having the distractions of my young kids,” said Lou. Her mother is temporarily helping with childcare while she works, but she has her two younger kids on the list for Henderson’s new daycare facility.
Carli Reiners shares space with what they now call “The White House” for her Rural & Well Boutique, but the building has new owners. Wade and Jaydon Janzen bought the property and completed all the necessary renovations for the hair salon.
They purchased the property because they anticipate needing more room to expand Jaydon’s event-planning business, Doree Events. They are also working on adding a new tanning bed by next fall.
Currently, Lou works part-time by appointment only, but she hopes to expand her hours as her kids get older. “Right now, I’m booked about a month in advance, working mainly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but I’m super flexible and welcome new clients.” Her services include hair cuts, hair color, and facial waxing.
She especially loves doing special hair events for weddings and proms. “I like to be a part of the community and get out of my normal routine when I do special events. Last Christmas, I had a blast doing tinsel, and it was a real hit,” she said.
Congratulations to Lou on her new digs for Studio H. We look forward to sharing news about the additional changes coming to the White House! You can reach Lou at 402-469-4116 to schedule an appointment.
