It was a great wrap-up for the Heartland track team’s season at the State Track Meet in Omaha this past Friday and Saturday. The weather was nearly perfect, with warmer temperatures and little wind making for record times and elevated competition.
“Heartland had a successful trip to Omaha to compete in the State Track and Field meet. It started off with Mariah Tessman, a three-time state qualifier, clearing 9’6″ and placing 3rd,” said Coach Christa Lindsay. Winning it was Kaylee Pribyl from Meridian with a vault of 11’, and taking the silver was Janna Roberts of Oceola at 10’6”.
Garett Regier competed in the shot put, placing 12th overall, and threw a personal best of 44’10”.
“We finished day one with the 4 x 800 meter relay team taking home 6th place with a season-best time of 8:37.56,” said Coach Lindsay.

“Day 2 started with Zachariah Quiring running the open 800 with a time of 2:06.89. We wrapped up the state meet with the 4 x 400 Meter Relay. They ran a season-best time of 3:34.89 and placed 8th to bring home a medal,” said Coach Lindsay.

The boys had a team score of 4, and with Mariah’s vault, she scored 6 points for the Heartland girls.
